A shoe dropped

Over on CQ I now have a presentation of why Able Danger has been dropped like a hot potatoe by the government....

Able Danger II: This time, it's personal

CQ has learned that such an effort has already been launched at the Pentagon. Titled "Able Providence", the effort seeks to use the Able Danger "engine" to generate hot leads for counterterrorism and law enforcement agents to pursue. Located in the Office of National Intelligence, AP will serve all agencies, as this unclassified graphic shows:

so since they are using the Able Danger architecture they may have felt keeping Able Danger out of the news at any cost was best for National Security

Crack Addict impersonator in Congress being dropped

Because some democrats realize she is a sideshow... and not in the good bearded lady way.

She and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) no longer speak, not even to exchange greetings when encountering each other in the Capitol hallways, said two House Democratic sources. Pelosi twice turned down McKinney’s request to regain her seniority after she was defeated and then reelected in 2002 and 2004. McKinney first came to Congress in 1992.

So why the "No big deal" crack Pelosi? obviously this is her way to try to get away from this because (gasp) some democrats realize this is a bad image

“This isn’t the view of Democrats that we want to project in the tough races, one of victims and race-baiting,” the strategist said.

So no Jesse Jackson?

Free from a school work Backlog.......

So I was listening to the background noise on pMSNBC about the Tom Delay resignation. Their big point is that the house republicans must be worried and think "Every seat counts" so... let me present another thought.

Suppose Tom thought what happened to Daschle was embarassing and he didn't want to be the punch line in that joke.

Is it wrong?

That I don't care about Jill Caroll or Tom Delay news?

The Professor of Death: UPDATE

The Professor of death after the firestorm of attention is trying to spin his way out...so on to the spin:

But Eric Pianka said Monday his remarks about what he believes is an impending pandemic were taken out of context.

"What we really need to do is start thinking about controlling our population before it's too late," he said. "It's already too late, but we're not even thinking about it. We're just mindlessly rushing ahead breeding our brains out."

So here we go. He claims immediately that an impending pandemic is what he was talking about then he ties it in to the fact its to late to stop the damage of our breeding. If it really was the first he could have said it all on Camera....and he wouldn't have tied it into population.

So I am still believing the Pajama-Ninja version of events

His defense...yep Academic freedom:

"Dr. Pianka has First Amendment rights to express his point of view," Hale said. "We have plenty of faculty with a lot of different points of view and they have the right to express that point of view, but they're expressing their personal point of view."

didn't a guy try to be a holocaust denier/Neo-Nazi and end up getting fired from his job as a professor?

yeah so its not about academic freedom its about a certain kind of freedom

So I am not pulling Pianka off the hook on this one

Oliver stone doesn't understand what words mean

Oliver Stone has decided to show the world he is indeed a fool.

The NATURAL BORN KILLERS director says, "We're Hollywood wackos and all that stuff, left-wing... (It's) an easy and facile dismissal. "I'm still a citizen, I've served my country as a veteran, I've had many jobs before the film business. I know something of life, having lived to this age. "We have a right to speak and every time we speak: 'You're an actor, a showbusiness director,' we're making it up! "This is not a way of dealing with people. This is slander."

First of all Oliver you do have a right to speak (and you do) over and over and over again. Do you think though people some times resent the fact you use your other talents to make us listen to your opinions which is -not- what we pay you for

then the other thing

Slander:
Law. Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation.

Is the fact you are actors/actresses and hollywood leftwingers false? no it surely isn't. Is it damaging to your reputation...not really. you can still work and say things.
A false and malicious statement or report about someone.

Ok the key to that definition is Malice....
1. A desire to harm others or to see others suffer; extreme ill will or spite.
2. Law. The intent, without just cause or reason, to commit a wrongful act that will result in harm to another.

Other then the Dixie chick (who did it to herself) I've yet to see a celebrity harmed by it

so Malice is out

sorry Olly

More "Random" protests

Apperently our friends in International A.N.S.W.E.R are behind with the Spanish language media the massive protests. (H/T Instapundit)

Immigration rights organizers today will call for a nationwide boycott of work, school and shopping on May 1 to protest congressional efforts to clamp down on illegal aliens as part of pending immigration-reform legislation.

MAy 1 I encourage everyone to go shopping and the like.

"The massive March 25 march and rally in Los Angeles of well over one million immigrant workers and their supporters -- along with protests and student walkouts throughout the United States -- is irrefutable evidence that a new civil rights and workers' rights movement is on the rise," said Raul Murillo, one of the key organizers and president of the Hermandad Mexicana Nacional. ....
The Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) coalition, which organized the Los Angeles march to win "full rights for undocumented workers," is confident its new "national action" will prove successful.
ANSWER's steering committee includes the Free Palestine Alliance, the Partnership for Civil Justice, the Nicaragua Network, the Korea Truth Commission, the Muslim Student Association, the Mexico Solidarity Network and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It denounces as racism attempts to criminalize illegal aliens.

I don't link to Worldnetdaily often

But when I do it is usually good

Today is "When TSA workers Attack"

Moon had been told by Frontier and TSA staff that screeners would not require Bogart to leave her chair for the security check, so she turned to put her mother's carry-on luggage through the x-ray device. When she turned back, she discovered her mother had been picked out for further screening and was out of her chair, "hobbling" through a glass-walled corridor.

"There were no grab bars," Moon told the Rocky Mountain News. "What I could see really was her fingers trying to hang onto a little ledge."

Moon says she instinctively reached out to assist her mother, fearing another fall and another broken hip.

"Don't touch her!" Moon says the screener warned.

Moon attempted to tell the young screener, a woman in her mid-to-late 20s, that her mother was under doctor's orders not to stand without her four-wheeled walker, but the screener shot back, "You'd better change your attitude. Or do you want me to make it so you don't fly today?"

Because clearly a woman with a Broken Hip is a terrorist threat.

once again the TSA exists to make things look safer but not be safer

Remember Ed Gillispie?

When he said people were Sexist and elitist for Bashing Harriet Miers?

Well good old Ed has decided to once again open his mouth and show the world what a fool he is.

The Republican Party cannot become an anti-immigration party. Our majority already rests too heavily on white voters, given that current demographic voting percentages will not allow us to hold our majority in the future. Between 2000 and 2004, President Bush increased his support in the Hispanic community by nine percentage points. Had he not, John Kerry would be president today.

Hispanic voting percentages are increasingly decisive in swing states like New Mexico, Nevada, Florida, Colorado and Arkansas. Mishandling the immigration debate today could result in the Republican Party struggling in these states and others in the same way it now does in California. People who come legally to this country with nothing and labor in the most menial ways to get a new start should feel at home in our party. As a rule, they are hardworking, law-abiding, freedom-loving and patriotic Americans.

HEY ED

First of all Hispanic votes are not the same. For example in 2004 Hispanics had a Hispanic canidate at the top of the state ticket here in Florida... don'tcha think MAYBE that has something to do with their vote increases?

Secondly: ED you DO realize that the California GOP during prop 187, and even to the election of the Guvenator has kept pretty much the same kind of hispanic support that they have had nationally.

So here is a question ed if -legal- hispanic citizens supported the GOP without giving rewards to illegal immigrants, how is that winning Hispanic votes when we flip the other way.

ED then goes on to make... a DISTORTION

Much of the resentment toward immigrant labor is based on the misperception that it is a drain on our economy and resources. However, researchers at the Academy of Sciences for the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform have demonstrated that immigrants add about $10 billion annually in net economic output due to the increased supply of labor and resulting lower prices. Furthermore, a typical newcomer pays $80,000 more in taxes than he takes out in benefits over the course of a lifetime.

Immigrants are great Ed. ILLEGAL immigrants suck

ILLEGAL immigrants are viewed (by and large) as a drain not the other way around.

So onece again the White House sends ED out to beat up the party rank and file for disagreeing with them

Thanks ED we love you to

The US Senate: Ruining college yet again

Over on Sweetness and Light I saw this wonderful bit of news.

For years, Democrats and Republicans such as Sen. Orrin G. Hatch of Utah have pursued legislation that would enable illegals to get in-state tuition rates, which can be as little as one-third of what out-of-state students pay. While past proposals have made little headway, this one was added to the current bill last week after just minutes of debate.

"It will free eligible students from the constant fear of deportation," said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. "We hope to extend Hispanic young people greater educational opportunities, so they may realize the American dream and achieve their potential."
......
Minority Whip Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, said the financial-aid provision was stripped out, but defended the larger proposal. "We are not a country that punishes children for the mistakes of their parents," he said.

Ok Democrats, Senator Hatch, other highly defective members of congress lets review for a moment m'kay

Higher pool of elgible people at a discounted rate + Increasing rate of expense for the university =Raise in the rates for education for EVERYONE.

Isn't that great? So instead of inconviencing a small group of people who...well... broke the law, and rewarding people who...ya know... obeyed the law we are instead going to indirectly punish everyone.

Thanks US senate

More Stupidity from Hollyweird

(H/T Gay Patriot)

Basic Instinct II a sequal no one demanded did a nice steaming bomb in the Box Office its first week out....gee wonder why a star who hasn't done anything big in years...a movie that is basically "Lets be sluttier" when compaired to the prequal bombs their are many people who should be blamed

However the Audience is getting the Blame this time.

Paul Verhoeven, director of the first "Basic Instinct" (which scored $353 million worldwide) as well as the widely ridiculed "Showgirls" (now regarded as something of a camp classic), attributes the genre's demise to the current American political climate.

"Anything that is erotic has been banned in the United States," said the Dutch native. "Look at the people at the top (of the government). We are living under a government that is constantly hammering out Christian values. And Christianity and sex have never been good friends."

Scribe Nicholas Meyer, who was an uncredited writer on 1987's seminal sex-fueled cautionary tale "Fatal Attraction," agrees, noting that the genre's downfall coincides with the ascent of the conservative political movement.

"We're in a big puritanical mode," he said. "Now, it's like the McCarthy era, except it's not 'Are you a communist?' but 'Have you ever put sex in a movie?'"

Yes it is your fault for not recognizing how great this film is....

but lets take a step back

the folks in the 80s who were in to films like Fatal attraction and Basic Instinct I were single folks back then. Young and upwardly mobile and the like

NOW they are 20 years or so older, have kids of their own and the movie does not appeal to them....

could it be they made the movie for the wrong -gasp- audience

No... that couldn't be it because the hemoraging at the box office shows the film studios know who they are making movies for.

Other people in the biz however have a more sensible approach

The agents are not requesting this type of script, so not many of them are being written anymore," said Damon, who more recently produced the Charlize Theron starrer "Monster." "That doesn't mean (the genre) can't be reborn again. I think for a good one with a good script, there is always an audience."

you mean a good movie will have people see it and a garbage movie will be seen by -gasp- no one...

I am shocked.

Another more logical person blames the audience but blames a different audience.

Despite the market downturn, "9 1/2 Weeks" and "Wild Orchid" scribe Zalman King is still penning erotic thrillers, including retro-sounding titles like "Nasty Girls Save the World." But he admits that the appetite for the genre has taken a hit, and he blames the international market.

"Korea used to be a big erotic thriller market (in the '80s and '90s). Japan, too. You used to be able to cobble deals together based on those markets, but it has become more difficult," said King, who also produced "9 1/2 Weeks" alongside Damon. "There used to be a way to finance erotic thrillers if you had the right cast based on the foreign market. The foreign market doesn't support it in the way that it used to. They are now embracing more mainstream fare."

Hmm people want to see other kinds of movies

maybe you should, I don't know...make them

Ms. McKinney-Still Crazy

And she has decided to go all out with her crazieness.

In a news conference featuring actor Danny Glover and singer Harry Belafonte, McKinney said she would be exonerated and that "this whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female, black congresswoman."

Ok first of all....getting Socialist Nutjobs and good snuggly cuddly friends of Fidel Castro to defend you...Good plan.

But lets take a step back

was the officer inappropriate in how he touched her; *MAYBE*

But, is the correct response violence: NO

Does the fact she had her personal space violated mitigate her law breaking: NO

more absurdity

"Because she was assaulted and placed in impending fear of her safety, she responded," he said. "This case has just begun and we're going to fight, and we're going to use the U.S. Constitution."

He grabbed her. Grabbing does not equal punching #1
Officer also made numerous attempts to stop her using non physical means thus mitigating him of assault

this is just true comedy

"It is the job of the Capitol Police to protect members of Congress. As a part of that job, they are to know who those members are," he said. "Whenever you put a police officer out on the street, he is supposed to know his job."

Members of Congress are allowed to bypass the metal detectors and security checkpoint. They are supposed to wear a lapel pin that identifies them as lawmakers. McKinney acknowledges she wasn't wearing one when she was stopped, but concurred with Myart that police should know who she is.

"The pin is not the issue," the six-time congresswoman said. "The issue is face recognition."

No the Pin is the issue

You got 435 members of congress and thats not counting various other important people in the government that the Capitol police need to keep an eye out for and protect.

The fact he can't remember one (very crazy) congresswoman isn't a reasonable rebuttal but then when has this woman been reasonable?

Danny Glover makes the most truthful statement in this circus

Added Glover, "We're not here to judge the merits of the case, but here to support our sister."

A sign you are a failure as a parent

Babies get to be little bit fluffier then most adult type people would be, however this goes beyond healthy and gets into being a problem.

CHICAGO - Many young children are too heavy for standard car-safety seats, and manufacturers are starting to make heftier models to accommodate them, according to research on the obesity epidemic's widening impact.
More than a quarter of a million U.S. children 1 to 6 years old are heavier than the weight limits for standard car seats; most are 3-year-olds who weigh more than 40 pounds, the study found.
Unless exceptionally tall, a 3-year-old weighing more than 40 pounds generally would be considered overweight.

If your child needs a Husky car seat you are doing something wrong. At that age they don't opt to eat heavy unless they pressure you as a parent

The Women keep sufferaging

This kid decided to rip a page out of the Man Show's book

But local Web logs in recent days have dredged up the video, which was censored from Salesianum’s morning TV report.

The video chronicles senior Will Albino’s effort to enlist Padua girls to sign his petition to revoke women’s voting rights.

Some of the giggling or grinning girls -- apparently misled -- seemed all-to-eager to place their names in the mike-wielding Albino’s spiral-bound notebook.

Will Albino you are a hero.

McCandless faulted the boys for tongue-in-cheek tomfoolery at the expense of younger girls apparently caught off guard. “I just felt it really wasn’t fair, because they were going there with the purpose of tripping them up,” McCandless said.

This was a national school of excellence and a well known Man Show skit.

Once the video surfaced on various Internet sites, alumni and parents began to complain, too, Sister Ann Michele said. Some of the girls in the video were embarrassed, she said, and many others weren’t laughing.

“The vast majority of students are furious,” she said.

I'd be furious if I paid for that education and they didn't know what Sufferaging is

The Army of the 12 monkeys

When Bad movie plots turn into reality, a professor over in the University of Texas brings us there. Dr. Eric R. Pianka is the posterboy for why I tense up whenever some one comes forth asking for "respect" for the planet. Their policies have prior to this point put out a passive problem for the earths population, and have through its pacivity lead to the death of many. But Dr. Pianka goes first and formost to the logical conclusion that many in the movement present...and worse more agree with

for I watched in amazement as a few hundred members of the Texas Academy of Science rose to their feet and gave a standing ovation to a speech that enthusiastically advocated the elimination of 90 percent of Earth's population by airborne Ebola. The speech was given by Dr. Eric R. Pianka (Fig. 1), the University of Texas evolutionary ecologist and lizard expert who the Academy named the 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist.

We live in a world where the cream of the scientific crop would applaude the murder of (at the most) 90% of the earths population through a organized infection of viruses. People who would not stand up and reject genocide. This is not however surprising. When we go to the gold standard of genocide, Nazi Germany, more Doctor's were members of the Nazi party then any other profession. In China and Russia the people who orchestrated the murders of millions often held a great degree of intellectual training.

But something worse occured in this incident to my mind

Something curious occurred a minute before Pianka began speaking. An official of the Academy approached a video camera operator at the front of the auditorium and engaged him in animated conversation. The camera operator did not look pleased as he pointed the lens of the big camera to the ceiling and slowly walked away.

This curious incident came to mind a few minutes later when Professor Pianka began his speech by explaining that the general public is not yet ready to hear what he was about to tell us. Because of many years of experience as a writer and editor, Pianka's strange introduction and the TV camera incident raised a red flag in my mind. Suddenly I forgot that I was a member of the Texas Academy of Science and chairman of its Environmental Science Section. Instead, I grabbed a notepad so I could take on the role of science reporter.

We live in a world of transperency and thats not always good (to be certain). But here we have a room full of the top scientific minds in the state of Texas. Instead of embracing the culture of transperency which becomes vital to protect from abuse of power they seek to hide, they seek to under cover of darkness propose this diabolical scheme.

Listen how he leads into proposing Murder of billions.

One of Pianka's earliest points was a condemnation of anthropocentrism, or the idea that humankind occupies a privileged position in the Universe. He told a story about how a neighbor asked him what good the lizards are that he studies. He answered, “What good are you?”

Pianka hammered his point home by exclaiming, “We're no better than bacteria!”

He devalues and dehumanizes the population. Something psychotics and mass murderers have always started off their process of murder. I could go into some of the many proofs that Man is only different then other animals because the scope of Man's ability to modify the enviroment (for good or for ill) is as great as it is because man has greater potential to act. It is however anthropocentrism to judge a species (Man) by the standard of other species...but it is a inverse anthropocentrism.

He then showed solutions for reducing the world's population in the form of a slide depicting the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse . War and famine would not do, he explained. Instead, disease offered the most efficient and fastest way to kill the billions that must soon die if the population crisis is to be solved.
Pianka then displayed a slide showing rows of human skulls, one of which had red lights flashing from its eye sockets.

He proposed the death of billions by power-point slide...

with the bells and whistles designed to bring you into the presentation.

the end result of this presentation?

Yet five hours later, the distinguished leaders of the Texas Academy of Science presented Pianka with a plaque in recognition of his being named 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist. When the banquet hall filled with more than 400 people responded with enthusiastic applause, I walked out in protest.

but thats not the worst of it

The 45-minute lecture before the Texas Academy of Science converted a university biology senior into a Pianka disciple, who then published a blog that seriously supports Pianka's mass death wish.

Its like in 12 monkeys where a scientist falls for the enviromental radicalism of Brad Pitt's lunatic charecter and spreads a leathal bio-pathogen about the world.

This is why we must distrust enviromentalists and scientists...because in the end they may lead us to our deaths

I too stand up for Hef

**Warning: The following post will use words like Naked, Breasts, Masterbate, and other forms of adult sexual conversation (not pornographic conversation)**

**If you don't like that sort of thing... I'd not be looking any further here**

Dean fires a shot across the bow of the morality conservatives and I want to join in with him on this.

First, Blogs for Bush carries the torch for the Opinion Journal article.

First things first. Shame on blogs for bush, it started out as a way for the vast right wing blogger conspiracy to unite behind the President. I really think at this point if they are going to go out on a limb like this they need to support both sides of the equation (mark goes even further in this post)

I guess it helps Hefner to say that - after all, the truth would hurt a bit: that in order to gratify his own desires, he set afoot a process of moral depravity which has now blossomed into a multi-billion dollar industry dedicated to the objectification and exploitation of some human beings for the personal pleasure of others. And lets not forget the massive explosion in "kiddie porn", which rides along with the growth of "legitimate" pornography.

First of all, to call Playboy pornography is not just laughable, it is contrary to the very history of Playboy. You see Hef in his robe, clutched with beautiful women in his mansion it was not to cultivate the image of pornography which is why his images were more artistic then the pornography of its day (of which resulted in the starting of Magazines like Hustler). Hef went to make naked pictures of women respectable as part of his "playboy lifestyle" which was contrary to the way porn was sold at the time.

Secondly with factors like women entering into the job market, the Birth control pill entering circulation, and the baby boomers growing up with the particular demographics and social forms that their parents gave to them the birth of adult entertainment was going to happen. So should we bash Hef because he saw the tea leaves and said "Hey, I can make some money there to?"

Please don't think I'm some sort of prude - I have an active sex life and have a keen eye for feminine beauty. Sex is a good thing - of course, only within proper bounds. What Hefner did was take it outside its proper bounds, call sexual promiscuity good (ie, call evil, good - there's a Person where such ideas originate, ya know?) and rake in the money.

I am not a prude either, and I am a enjoyer of sex and the female form. Is having sex outside of a relationship Evil? No of course it isn't. Is it good? No it isn't either. How can you evaluate it? You evaluate it on the people in question. Sex for the sake of sex is unhealthy, but we can't blame Hef for that. It comes down to the mores and values of the people. Hitler didn't kill the jews but he opened the door to the inner demons of peoples natures to do that. Did Hef promote having sex irresponsibly? no he just said you can have it responsibily without marriage.

Never forget that - as a pornographer, Hefner has prospered mightily....and I do wonder just what percentage of his "playmates" are still doing ok. After all, an 80 year of cretin can still ruthlessly exploit young women bamboozled in to that sort of thing...but where does an 80 year old ex-playmate go? What happens to them? Has anyone ever asked?

they end up like 80 year old former actresses, and 80 year old former models

We can pray that Hefner, before he dies, will come to realise what a horrible thing he has done - but no matter what happens to Hefner, the terrible affects of his monstrous lust will be with all of us for quite a long time to come.

And he shoots out the religous buckshot here.

But on to Mark's second article to show just where he is coming from.

I imagine that most people who read this will have to admit that they have at one time or another viewed pornography. Not just the incidental pornography you might see from time to time involuntarily, but the actual act of going and looking at pornography with full knowledge that you wanted to do so. What I'd like everyone has done this to do is a little mental exercise (which will mostly apply to men, but I guess women might have done these sorts of things, too):

two words man "Romance Novels"... women masterbate and women do indeed go after porn. their numbers are smaller so you go into some of the less obvious things. Those trashy books with men and their heaving chests on the cover and long wavy hair. But as you will see it is much more important for Mark's thesis for it to be all about Men.

Go back in time and think of the first pornographic thing you saw. Perhaps it was just a picture of a woman showing her bare breasts - something mild, like that...nothing to get too worked up about, right? Except, waaaay back when, it did work one up, didn't it?

No it didn't mark... and thats because visual stimulai isn't what makes my crank turn

Oh... I'm sorry did I destroy your entire point right now? I am sorry about that....

I recall the senes of thrill and fascination I felt the first time I did so...now I could pass a naked woman on the street and hardly give her a glance.

Ok Mark here is the thing.....

If I were to walk down yee old street and see a naked woman I'd look. Why because a naked woman on the street is...ya know... not something you see on the street. So you have to put this shell of ultramorality to build up to an appeal to authority.

Repetition makes for boredom - once you've seen a hundred sets of breasts, you've pretty much seen them all (as an aside, I think the decline of Madonna's career can be directly traced to the fact that everyone has seen her breasts - and much else of her - and so there's no reason for anyone to watch her anymore).

The Madonna crack: hehehe

Now on to the subject of Repetition. Sorry I am not Bored by naked women's breasts. But it is not the Breasts that stimulate me, but it is the woman behind them. So once again what turns my crank doesn't turn yours... and it won't turn yee old guy down the roads crank.

It went like that in the use of pornography, at least for me - what thrilled at one point failed to thrill later, and so more "out there" pornography was sought in an attempt to recapture the first thrill of it all.

I think we should be proud of Mark for admiting to having sexual compulsive behavior. I can drink, and I can drink to excess. But I do not need to drink to get through the day, nor do I need to drink more and more to get the same effect. That is because I am not equiped with the Neurochemistry of addiction for drinking. Mark is for Porn and its good then that he shouldn't see porn... but he is not alone and nor does he have the only brain type for porn.

Mark now decides that he wants to reveal to us.... MURDERERS LIKE PORN

but I do recall a criminal case from a few years ago about the rape and murder of a little girl. On the perpetrator's computer was pornography...and the older the porn on the computer, the more mild it was. He, apparantly, did not hold back.

Did Porn make him murder? or did a sexual compulsion he had make him be addicted to porn and murder? or did he like porn for reasons unrelated to his murder?

Hmmm no going into either of those three points huh mark, and you know why? because you need to demonize Porn. This puts mark into the category of addict who needs to demonize his former vice.... but thats ok eventually he will have a healthier attitude about his addiction.

But Mark is of course not the root core of this little thread of hate on Hef so lets go to the Opinion Journal.

Hugh Hefner turns 80 next Sunday, and The Mansion is once again the place to be. "A major pajama party" is planned, as he told Maclean's, along with other observances equal to the dignity of the occasion. But this milestone also has "Hef" in a reflective mood, wondering how he will be remembered and trying to sum up "the major message in my life."

As a old man who tossed most of his earlier children out of the bulk of their inheritance in favor of the most recent children from the most recent spouse. This includes the children who built the Playboy empire up when you retired to your life as the Mascot of the playboy lifestyle.

The vanity of an old man who has to buy the favor of his youngest wife through their child.

But I am going to roll further and give heff and Matt here their swipes.

One might have thought that the woman, in life, had enough trouble with users and operators. But of course Hef, an exploiter to the end, doesn't see himself that way, and what's clear from all his legacy projects is that he wants to be remembered as anything other than what he is. We're to think of him as Hugh Hefner, social philosopher and cultural revolutionary. Hugh Hefner, entrepreneur and Charity Events Man of the Year. Hugh Hefner, friend of Marilyn. Hugh Hefner, luckiest cat on the planet. Anything, please, but the truth about Hugh Hefner, pornographer.

The women are paid massive amounts of money. Yeah Heff makes his money but can we divorce the women from the responsibility of their own choices? As I said earlier the idea of Heff as a pornagrapher is really laughable.

There was a dark and joyless time in America when one could actually go about daily life without ever encountering pornographic images. A child could grow up scarcely knowing that "adult entertainment" existed, much less acquainted with its many varieties. Hotel stays, in that prudish, stuffy era, had to be endured without pay-as-you-go porn, in-room and On Command. American males could not avail themselves of hundreds of millions of obscene films every year--as they do now, courtesy of even respectable corporations like Time Warner and Comcast--or take in the show at "gentlemen's clubs" when porn is not enough.

Porn always existed on the fringes of society. But in the end as society changed it became accessable.

Access isn't always good but it is a reality that occurs. When doors open up people will look in, and people will even go inside them.

Playboy Enterprises itself, years ago, dropped the pretense of refinement and delicacy, following the money into hard-core cable. Soft-core, hard-core, these were all along just degrees of exploitation and self-debasement and for the procurers a purely legal and commercial calculation.

You know why that happened? Its because Heff was losing money, Heff was losing market share.

You know who made that choice? Heff's daughter. Heff's oldest daughter has been running his media empire for years. So why attack Heff who when Playboy was ran by his own hand did no such a thing... its because Heff exists as an idea to kick. And when we talk about Heff the man we have to embrace the fact Porn goes both ways.

Enough to say that police investigators, in the sex-crimes units that have expanded roughly in proportion to mass-market "adult material," rarely conclude that the rapist or child predator lacked for pornographic inspiration before committing the crime.

again with this falacy....

Do these people exist as wounded and damaged individuals who seek out the black wound in their souls, or do they fill a empty spot and create the monsters.

I think the reality is more the former then the latter.

But as to the public legacy of Hugh Hefner, he should have no illusions. All of us have our share of faults and sins to account for. But the lowest of vices and "strangest secret of hell," as G.K. Chesterton called it, is the desire to pervert others, to coax and corrupt them and drag them down with you. And any man who at the age of 80 has that to answer for is by no stretch the luckiest cat on the planet.

Heff opened the door man, people walked in.

The problem is people who look to the religous end to attack pornography fail to understand the first gift of our creator.

Our mind, and our free will to see the evil and good in this world, and to choose.

Stupid Immigration Politics

Two really stupid voices have come out in the Immigration debate. First the Mayor of NYC over on UPI finds a great way to convince the audience they should support the illegals.

"You and I are beneficiaries of these jobs," Bloomberg told his WABC-AM radio co-host, John Gambling. "You and I both play golf; who takes care of the greens and the fairways in your golf course?"

However, Robert Heaney, general manager of Deepdale Golf Club -- a Long Island course where Bloomberg often plays -- told The New York Daily News that no illegal immigrants work at the club.

So #1) Bloomberg paints a vision of rich elites having their life of luxury supported by the sweat of illegal immigrants. Heck this probably ups support for the house bill by 1% and
#2) He puts the guy who runs his golf club on the spot.... don't be surprised Mr. Mayor if you get bad golf carts from now on.

Our next stupid immigration politics goes out to our good friend Loud Howard the Dean

"This is a nonsensical proposal put out by far right-wingers in the Republican Party who have been endorsed for re-election by the president of the United States," Dean said. "The president has a moral obligation to rein in the right-wing extremists in his party and stop this divisive rhetoric about immigrants."

So we can see Howard Dean's 06 strategy is still "Bush is really really evil (really)"

But we also see a problem here to. Is Loud Howard saying he takes credit and endorses the politics of every democrat who makes it to a general election ballot? that is simply non-sensical and even he should know it.

Drug Companies: Trust us.....

Your friends and mine the US drug companies want to take the Drug advertisements designed to target end users and make them even less informative then they are now. Al-Press with the story....

The Coalition for Healthcare Communication suggests in its petition that consumers would be better served by skimpier ads that still relay enough information to prompt them — without scaring or confusing them — to discuss with their doctors an advertised drug's risk and benefits. The ads would simply carry a boilerplate warning that all prescription drugs have potential risks and benefits, it said.

Yes because after telling people the Pills will give them the sun, the moon, and the stars we want to tell them that they all have POTENTIAL risks. I mean why inform them, especially people with higher risk factors that "this may not be for you."

WARNING: This post not good for dirty hippies

The Dalai Lama has some things to say you may not like

Although he appeared not to approve of the war in Iraq, he was admiring of Bush.

"He is very straightforward," said the monk.

"On our first visit, I was faced with a large plate of biscuits. President Bush immediately offered me his favourites, and after that, we got on fine. On my next visit, he didn't mind when I was blunt about the war.

"By my third visit, I was ushering him into the Oval Office. I was astonished by his grasp of Buddhism."

also celebribuddishts aren't on his speed dial he claims either.

He is the first Dalai Lama to travel to the West and has been accused of being obsessed with the trappings of fame there.

"I never asked people like (US actor) Richard Gere to come, but it is foolish to stop them," he told the Telegraph.

"My attitude is to give everyone some of my time. If I can contribute in any way to their happiness, that makes me happy."

and he ends it up with a Spiritual Message that I can agree with (and that all except for Alpha level dirty hippies fall prey to)

"It is fascinating. In the West, you have bigger homes, yet smaller families; you have endless conveniences -- yet you never seem to have any time. You can travel anywhere in the world, yet you don't bother to cross the road to meet your neighbours," he said.

"I don't think people have become more selfish, but their lives have become easier and that has spoilt them. They have less resilience, they expect more, they constantly compare themselves to others and they have too much choice -- which brings no real freedom."

TALES OF MISLEADING HEADLINES

Today friends I want to take you into a TALE OF MISLEADING HEADLINES and this one today is a winner. While what the headline says is TECHNICALLY accurate it does mislead. So lets go over to Al-Reuters land and see this story

Light drinking may not be good for you: study

Wow I thought, all these other studies are wrong..... Welllllllllll not so fast.

But a team at the University of Victoria in British Columbia and the University of California San Francisco analyzed 54 studies and found that only seven of them differentiated between people who abstain from choice and those who may have quit drinking for health reasons.

When such studies show a higher death rate for abstainers than for moderate drinkers, it may be because of the poor health of some abstainers who recently quit drinking and not because alcohol is good for health, they said.

They didn't do a study as the article maintained nor did they rebut the point of the study (light drinking is healthful) they pointed out a flaw in the methodology of most of the studies... that sure is different then saying light drinking may not be good for you now isn't it.

the sputtering goes on

In the seven studies that included people who have not drunk alcohol for a long time, by choice, there was no difference in rates of heart disease between drinkers and non-drinkers.

Well now I am not so sure that makes the best control group either. It gets into the quality of abstention and the quality of the drinking.

"We know that older people who are light drinkers are usually healthier than their non-drinking peers," said Kaye Fillmore of the UCSF School of Nursing. "Our research suggests light drinking is a sign of good health, not necessarily its cause. Many people reduce their drinking as they get older for a variety of health reasons."

We also know that drinking alters how the body metabolizes cholestoral which is something which impairs health.

So sounds like this "study" was equally flawed as the methodology problem it saw in other studies
