It is all done but the Screaming....

It in this case being my first real semester of college. I've had some challenges, but I hit a good set of strides in the end. And I forgot the fun "last day of school paper" anxiety i can ( and many students do) get.

I look forward to seeing how the grades go, and of course on how I do in finding work to pay for things more.

I am going to do a special "rate my professor's" edition on a As I get the grades basis (So I don't jinx myself.)

And now for adventures in Hippiedom

Want to see why Dirty Hippies are ruining the college enviroment (Though this class idea does amuse my inner anarchistic personae)

Beldner, an artist, teaches a St. Mary's College class called "Pranks: Culture jamming as social activism." Among his students' projects this term was the distribution of a news release touting a fictional bar to be opened near the Moraga campus.

Yes "how to dupe the media"..... obviously they are not people who have seen the Internet (which is the real easy place to do this.)

And what do the folks in Journalistic-Hippie-teach-so-I-can't-do Professorhood?
But journalists already have their hands full sifting facts from fiction without having to worry about deliberate misinformation, said Austin Long-Scott, who teaches journalism ethics at San Francisco State University. He compared the hoax to a computer virus.

"He is teaching students to try to screw up an important system that has enough trouble getting things right," Long-Scott said. "It's a destructive thing to do, and it violates a general societal ethic."

Yes folks it is wrong to try and trick reporters because they have trouble getting it right the first time.

Well thank you there captain obvious.

Fleshing out my Masonic Blog posting some more

I find myself somewhat amused as being the only Florida Mason who posted in response to the situtation.

I will try to be as Masonic as possible, and to put this out in a way that is consumable by you Non-Masons out there.

Brother Tim has for the last few years, been the guy who has pushed for more and larger scale Masonic Internet pressence online. This is a work that is to his credit, in my personal opinion.

Amongst the world of Online Masons (those brothers who circulate online on a very regular basis) Certain topics go round and round more then once. This is normal with all online forums so what Worshipful Brother Bryce put out as an editorial and opinion article is not something anyone hasn't seen once or twice in an online forum. The problem is this article went against certain sacred standards that have always been that way (a situation which many inside the masonic community are aware of in a variety of fields of endeavor. Brother Tim in a responsible editorial way place a rebuttal article in his publication.

I think ideas such a "World Congress" of Masons, a theme often seen in some of the most ludicrous Anti-Masonic diatribes and some pointing out the quality of the clothes of the Grand Lodge in ways that I've heard more then once offline from Brothers. These two ideas lead to a shutting down of Brother Tim's activities.

Brother Tim has an excellent mind for the Florida Digest of Masonic law from the few times I have seen him post it. I trust his interpretation was a reasonable interpretation of the Grand Masters edict.

I do not know If this was the intent of the Grand Master, and frankly I hope it wasn't. Because some of the projects Brother Tim was working on I think aided the Masonic community as a whole far more then a single opinion article damaged it. One such project was a recent email list where Brother Tim was stimulating discussion amongst brothers on future legislation to come before the Grand Lodge of Florida. I think that while such a subject matter could be delicate with proper moderation to ensure no Masonic Law or Edict is violated the craft would hold a far greater benifit from the project.

When a person is in the position the M:.W:. is, sometimes the kind of thoughtful one on one discourse that would occur if it was a honest dispute and disagreement between two men cannot be done. I definately respect the Grand Master's sense that a respect for the insitution and offices of the Grand Lodge must be upheld. I feel that another course of action to get to that point could have been possible, and had I been in the Grand Masters place I would have acted differently. But I understand and respect why the Grand Master made the choice he did, even if I would have taken a different course of action.

I do feel, and until I saw some one else blogging on the subject, that pushing the envelope of this issue would be improper. I do feel however as a Florida Mason an Obligation to say that Both of my Brothers within my Grand Lodge Family have from my knowledge acted in what they feel is the betterment of the Craft. It is unfortunate that these two men disagreed on that end, and I hope that M:.W:. and Brother Tim can resolve this dispute and Brother Tim can continue his excellent service to the craft in Florida by spreading Masonic Light in an online forum.

Another Florida Brother who reads my blog, and whom I have respected a great deal disagrees with me. R:.W:. is of another generation then I and his understanding of the Masonic obligation, and understanding of what that means online is different then mine. I respect him as a leader in the craft, and I disagree with him. I do think however situations like this could be resolved better if their were less grey areas that the thoughts of one generation and another could get lost within the mists of murky modern english language.

I think that is the kind of Masonic leadership that could take a situation which has ruffled some Masonic Feathers outside the State of Florida and create a positive solution which would benifit the community of soverign Grand Lodge's all around the world.

When a brother intends well but errors through improper knowledge, I feel correcting his error is far more important then punishing him for his error. If a brother does not intend well that is entirely another matter. If a brother knows better and errors in a serious manner, that is a more signifigant problem and then I feel edicts should be used.

But the Purple and Gold does not yet rest on my neck, and If it ever does I will show some of how I think the Grand Lodge should be governed.

Glad to see my brief toehold into masonic Blogging went over well.....

I may clarrify some of the issues a bit more. But obviously some limits exist due to how sources of information have come to me, and saying things in a proper and Masonic fashion.

I also think that I can do so and address some of the sad but true realities of what happens on a regular basis in the Masonic lodge.

and do so in a way that also is properly masonic

this will be fun

A wee bit of Masonic Blogging

Over on Masonic Traveler Greg Stewart covers a controversy going on in the Grand Lodge of Florida.

W:. Brother Tim Bryce had the best reaction to the situation, and while I certainly agree with Brother Stewart in some of his emotion on the substance I do not.

Grand Masters are invested with a great deal of power for a very good reason, however a down side to this is some times the grand master makes choices that you may not feel are the wisest in the world.

The shutting down of all of Brother Bryce's internet sites not just Freemasonry the Next generation is a bit bigger matter I am sure from my experiences with all things Grand Lodge.... Other shoes will need to hit the carpet. Brother Bryce did the right thing... and as a Florida Mason I may not have to like what the boss has done... but he is still the boss.

I would make further ( I have tons more to say) comment but I think it would be best to let this develop naturally.

Merry Christmas Kinder

The Same Churches who complain on Christmas being banned from Target and other big stores have their doors closed on Christmas Sunday.

The churches closing on Christmas plan multiple services in the days leading up to the holiday, including on Christmas Eve. Most normally do not hold Christmas Day services, preferring instead to mark the holiday in the days and night before. However, Sunday worship has been a Christian practice since ancient times.

Yes Christian Churches have known since time immemorial that people show up for Christmas Sunday services.... Even on CHRISTMAS DAY~!

While i've not been a huge fan of the study of religion by professional colleges I have to agree with this intellectual

"This is a consumer mentality at work: `Let's not impose the church on people. Let's not make church in any way inconvenient,'" said David Wells, professor of history and systematic theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a leading evangelical school in Hamilton, Mass.

Being a believer isn't easy. It isn't a thing that you just wear like a badge... and if you do your short changing your faith. I shouldn't have to tell this to christian folk.

one of the affected churches makes this lame defense

"If we weren't having services at all, I would probably tend to feel that we were too accommodating to the secular viewpoint, but we're having multiple services on Saturday and an additional service Friday night," Willison said. "We believe that you worship every day of the week, not just on a weekend, and you don't have to be in a church building to worship."

Yes they hold multiple services.... on Normal weeks.

Catholics and other mainline denominations know that people show up on Christmas Sunday services....

And they have far higher overhead then the people who spend time talking about how "Unworthy" they are of Christ.

Well... I guess we can say in this time the mainline churches definately know what Jesus would do.

My attempts to get a blog of the year award failed....

But I stand nominated by The Watcher's council. I am glad to see this post inspired by all the "War on Christmas" talk amongst the folks in the conservative talking-headverse has been well recieved. And of course anyone out there who has followed the link over from Watcher of Weasels please enjoy my blog.

I am not a lawyer

I do not play one on TV but this article from Findlaw (hat tip: Fark) may be the single dumbest legal analysis in the history of legal analysis.

Julie Hilden has so missed the point I later plan to direct her towards the point in an email because it is so pathetically sad.

Interestingly, the episode itself indicates that its creators know well that they may be defaming Cruise, and they know of his litigious history. The joke disclaimer preceding the episode announces that "All characters and events on this show -- even those based on real persons -- are entirely fictional." At the end of the episode, the Cruise character threatens to bring a suit (not on the gay issue, but in defense of Scientology) "in England" -- which lacks a formal equivalent of the First Amendment. And all the credits at the end use the pseudonyms "John Smith" and "Jane Smith."

More famous then the Tom Cruise lawsuits ( and moral brutal) are the Church of Scientology lawsuits against anyone who messes with their brand. The fact she doesn't know this fact and tries to make this all about Tom Cruise please come out of the closet..... is just sad right there. She is trying to go for the gay pop... but "In The Closet" has become a multipuprose term

(Sorry gay people... straights have been stealing "In the Closet" from you)

Such as the R. Kelly Rap Opera garbage that was also parodied in the scene which had R. Kelly "In the Closet: (which could also allude to R. Kelly's alleged Sexual proclivities with Junior High students... or it could just have to do with his video.. you don't know)Tom could be "In the closet" about his acting.. how he really isn't a good actor and has gotten along on his looks for a long time. And some could argue the same about Travolta (though not as well IMHO. Tom could be "In the closet" about the raving lunatic beliefs of scientology.

You just don't know how he is In the Closet....Also going back to the gay theme being in the closet is about shame forcing you to hide from the truth. The reincarnation of L.Ron Hubbard told him he wasn't very good thus being in the closet could be about comparable states of shame.

These deep themes could all be in play here. But Sadly Ms. Hilden needs it to be gay because that titalates.

On this logic, the First Amendment gives breathing room to creative works even when they fail in their goals. Thus, here, the "South Park" episode is protected even if its literalization of the "in the closet" metaphor won't make a single viewer chuckle.

Its called a running gag... you see by stressing "Tom Cruise please get out of the closet" you can make his being in the closet funny.

She is trying to asses the comedic value of something in a way as slipshod as her legal analysis of what libel is.

Now what is funny are these words from Tom Cruise's attorney

Cruise has chosen, in the past, not only to challenge allegations that he cheated or lied to cover up his alleged homosexuality, but also to directly challenge allegations that he is gay. In 2001, Cruise's attorney Bert Fields was quoted saying to E! Online, that "[Cruise] is a great respecter of homosexual rights, but he's not gay, and he's ready to prove this in court. Tom is tired of it and it hurts his children. It's something that will be there forever. And damn it, he's going to stop it." (Emphasis added).

Ok How. I am pretty curious how Tom is going to prove he is hetrosexual in court.

Will Tom be having sex with a woman for the judge to see.... I am sure some one in the porn industry is working on this idea as I speak ( check the video stores tommorrow)

Now... we of course here go to the ole "gay bashing" line.

If you focus on the gay thing to much... it may not mean your gay but it certainly means your not straight.

I really do want to see Tom Cruise prove he is hetrosexual... I think this could be single handedly one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. Now.... Tom cruise can easily prove he did not have sex with some dude... but that is hugely different then proving he is not gay.

Heck I've only had sex with one person in my life... But I am not sure that can prove I'm not homosexual....

but her thesis..... so carefully placed at the bottom of this flushable law article

In my view, a "straight-person's privilege" isn't the kind the courts should be protecting. Indeed, a friend of mine who's a practicing First Amendment lawyer believes this so strongly, he won't, as a matter of professional ethics, argue a case for libel-by-claim-of-homosexuality in court. He'd rather be on the right side of history, and decline.

Thats right.... Libel shouldn't be about what damages the person, it should be about what Society (should in the idealistic leftist-ivy leaugest way) believe in.

Hmmmm how can she get attention to her drivel of opinion barely wrapped in analysis

Why take something with lots of controversy... why like south park.

And get some one who sues a lot.. like Tom Cruise

and make a narative to express her political beliefs as a matter of scholarship.

I am not a Lawyer but I can see a garbage analysis when its given to me

and this is garbage

More democracy in europe

But this is about democratization of capital.

Sites have a choice to opt out of google news. Now, whose fault is it if their content isn't used they way they like? Why from the same Europe that values a "No" vote that says -make them vote till they get it right- you got that right its the consumers fault (Al-Press)

Balsemao said consumers were drawn online by free content but this needed to change, he said.

"The value of content must be understood by consumers so that new business models can evolve. Industry must have legal certainty and the confidence that their intellectual property will be protected.

Balsemao said that good quality content produced by professionals would be the "gold content" for new media.

Why silly people..... its your fault.

And we wonder why the European economy is stalling... because instead of innovation they spend more time trying to make non-european companies conform to the european market.

And people talked about the EU as a new world power....

A Witch War

Yes a little something something I gott off of the Al-Drudge which makes me take another moment between scholastic excersises to bring you this gem

Upon investigation, Pagan discovered that her home's white aluminum door had a large gash in it. And just to the right, a large chunk of concrete was sitting in a flowerpot with a note attached to it by rubber bands. She immediately recognized a handwritten note in an ancient language called Theban, which she said is used almost exclusively by witches.

Ok any of my Wiccan peeps out there (you know who you are)or folks who are far more knowledgable about things Wiccan then I.... what the deuce is Theban? Is that something like Alexandrian? is that something from Llwellyn Books I missed out on?

Ok So Nutty lady throws a a flowerpot with a brick of concrete in it at the ladies aluminum door.

This story is news because it has Wiccans in it and that gives the story a sexy angle.

Bob Engborg, a retired Daytona Beach police officer who specializes in strange and unusual crimes that involve occult, or hidden beliefs, said Monday he agrees that the note was written in Theban and the suspect most likely is a fellow pagan -- probably someone who dislikes Jill Pagan.

"This sounds like an internal thing between other people of her faith," Engborg said, later adding, "They don't like her and the work she is doing or the way she is doing the work."

What ever happened to the days when Wiccans would feud with each other in passive agressive ways.... or send spells and bad energy at each other.

Throwing a brick... how passe

How I blog

How I blog… I got some comments from the peanut gallery about the amount of material I fling out trying to see what sticks to the wall. So really the process has two forms.
Garbage In:
Anything that happens to me in Classes that is horrendously politically correct and ridiculous.
I hit Drudge and Fark first. Drudge and Fark usually have great material to start off a day of blogging.
I move on to Ankle Biting Pundits, Brussels Journal, Andrew Sullivan (who usually has something for me to kick him for), the Medienkritik, Newsmax, and then various Yahoo and Google news topics I get emailed to me.
Then I listen to talk radio on the way home and to school which usually spits something out to me of interest. (Like my post on Christmas.)
Then I pull into love life, and other –self- posts.
And last I dredge up the bottom from OKcupid with tests.
Garbage out:
I post either between classes or when I get home. So my ideas sometimes cluster in the periods between blogging

So…. That’s my process folks. Such as it is.

Earlier then planned posting

Video games can now teach women how to masterbate. Also free for perverted men to download

This was all clearly thought out.

Don't expect a lot of posting tommorrow.

I have a test among other things to do. So I'll be short on the postings tommorrow.

BUT

I have a topic I'll crack something good on Wensday "Family guy and Right Wing talk"

It's the RINO sightings Holiday party

35-0 at the half

Monday Night football is a blood bath

Loud Howard does it again

Well, it is Christmas in early December if you are the RNC chairman. And who is Santa at this point? Why our good buddy Howard Dean.

Dean: US Won't Win in Iraq

I know the headline is usually a sales pitch by the media outlet… but take that in. Less US soldiers have been attacked, Less Iraqi’s are being attacked, we are on the cusp of three successful elections and what does loud Howard say? “We won’t win.” More and more elements of an infrastructure for Iraq are being built… and what does loud Howard say? “We won’t win.” Indeed when it looks like the cusp of Victory is around the corner loud Howard says “We won’t win.” Yet the Democrats say they are a Pro-Troop party.

Saying the "idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong," Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean predicted today that the Democratic Party will come together on a proposal to withdraw National Guard and Reserve troops immediately, and all US forces within two years.

Forget that it is darned likely right now that US forces will probably be vastly reduced in two years. But how can an immediate withdrawal of the National Guard and Reserve which are the bulk of our forces allow for a 2 year time tabled withdrawal of the rest of our troops. The idea is so nonsensical it makes the 06 elections creep more Republican. And it tends to make me think more and more that Howard Dean wants to be fired.

Dean didn't specify which country the US forces would deploy to, but he said he would like to see the entire process completed within two years. He said the Democrat proposal is not a 'withdrawal,' but rather a 'strategic redeployment' of U.S. forces.

When a serious adult idea comes up, Loud Howard doesn’t put his nards on the table. Instead he comes up with a Euphemism. Strategic redeployment to an unnamed country does this idea even remotely seem serious in a way to protect our troops? No of course it doesn’t.

Loud Howard and the DNC aren’t adult enough to come to the table and try to solve Adult problems.

Hey again Dr. Helen viewers

For those of you who have come over here from Dr. Helen .... welcome.

The BEM test which caught her eye is one of the products at OKcupid. Ok Cupid actually has some legitimate ( well as legitimate as anything a psychological battery that is vauge can do) Psychological tests.

If you look in my wayback machine I am sure a few more Psychological tests are there. And I tend to jump onto the psychological tests (within reason) on OKCUPID

and welcome again.... Linking to Dr.Helen has been really productive in getting me site traffic

I am a rodent again wooooohooo

How the deuce did that happen?

So how soon till I am back into being a primate again?

and where is my cheese :-p

How DeMolay has effected my life

Of all the weird Google Search terms that have brung me readers ( Like Christine Chubbock) this one wasn't weird... ( and was downright sensible to).

Let me tell you about my life before DeMolay. I wasn't very outgowing in my life before I entered the order. Friends I didn't have many. The idea of brotherhood and fraternity which I hold in my heart towards many folks all over this country (especially in the state of Florida) would never have happened.

How did I become the outgoing opinionated person that I am today? Well their were certain niches of things in how one advanced and gained respect in the order. We'll divide them into leadership, sports, ritual, and "fun"

people from the other three niches would make their segway into the leadership category but by and large their was a perminent political class in the order.

I gravitated towards that. Largely because I liked the folks in the leadership class very well.

To do that I learned to speak (butressed with Speech and Debate in high school) which augmented my already strong verbal skills. I learned to try to take iniative and ask to get into positions to lead in my chapter and in the state. And through rivalries with adult and youth leaders I really grew more into the bastich who is stubborn and willing to go to the wall against some one who is wrong more then I was before.

DeMolay took some of my strong traits and made them stronger. But what really changed my life was the Brotherhood.

I joined Sarasota Lodge #147 with a fellow Senior DeMolay. I actually helped put Tom through his degrees in his chapter in Bradenton, Florida. their was a pull between Tom and I. I ended up advocating for Tom behind closed doors on a few occassions and occassionally droping some requests because they weren't really relevant to tom or the lodge as a whole.

My best friend in the world Mark has done for me things few other friends would. Mark and I were political warriors in the order, and I know much of what he had to do to get ahead because I was there with him. So long as i was physically able to if mark called me I'd come from wherever I was in Florida if he needed me. And I know he'd do the same for me... and just like me he wouldn't put it to a second thought.

But where the Brotherhood came down is the fact I was often an outsider in my chapter, that was the paragon of brotherhood. I was the token nerd with the "cool kids". But in the end of my DeMolay run they saw the respect of others I brought to the chapter, and they knew I'd go to the wall for them just as they would for each other.

Taking obligations at an alter changes you. This "stream of conciousness" rant I really talked about those I feel the most in my heart right now. If whomever did that search comes back to look at this post a comment in the comment line, I'd be glad to go into more detail.

heck, even if you want more detail I'd be glad to share it

Yarg~!

If you are Canadian, you obviously read MacLean's or watch the Parliamentary Channel, but perhaps you are not hep with the current jive. I don't recommend that you immediately go out and try to strike up a conversation with a hip youngster and ask them whether Casey was in fact hermaphroditic, but it couldn't hurt to brush up on your Canadian pop culture a bit. This is some neat stuff

">
"border="0"alt="" />

Here is every US state I have sat foot in.

I did it here on World66 (their code didn't fit well on my page)

I found a nice google search topic that brought me some viewers

"how demolay has effected my life"

I am not usually some one to post based off of random googling but I think I will do a post on that a bit later

because it is something I think meaningful that can be useful.

Haptanghaiti: Song 3.2 = Yasna 37.2

Through His power, greatness,

And skills, Him now

We venerate........

With the choice of praises;

(We, who live peacefully

in company of the living world.)

(Haptanghaiti: Song 3.2 = Yasna 37.2)

Some good news.

Oil prices have a lot of problems but some of the external problems to the US may be going away soon.

Part of the uncertainty lies in what is going to happen to the Chinese economy. In 2004, global oil consumption grew by 3.7 percent to 83 million barrels, more than twice the average annual growth over the past decade. China alone accounted for a third of that growth. Its demand for oil surged 15 percent.

This year, Chinese growth is expected to subside somewhat, expanding at a rate of 3.3 percent, according to the energy agency. Growth is expected to pick up again in 2006, though, rising an estimated 6 percent, thanks to strong car sales and electricity generation.

But such wild swings have led some analysts to express doubts about the reliability of information from China. The reality is that it will take some time before anyone knows for sure what Chinese demand will be.

A possibly of decling in demand in China.... that could push prices down by a lot.

but even better is this nugget

In a widely read and much-discussed report, Cambridge Energy Research Associates, a consulting firm in Massachusetts, estimated that global production would grow by 16 million barrels - a jump of nearly 20 percent - by 2010, far outstripping the estimated growth in demand over that period.

For oil executives, the experiences of the 1985 and 1998 price collapses remain a stronger influence than their belief that the world has entered a period of more expensive energy.

So the prospects of lower energy prices in 2008 are realistic, major reductions of troops in Iraq... the Democrats aren't getting a break
