Gen Sani Abacha, the late military dictator, stole between £1 billion and £3 billion during his five-year rule.
"We are only now beginning to come to grips with some of what he did," Mr Nwajah said.
Nigeria has scoured the world for Abacha's assets but has recovered only about £500 millio
Now... Wrap your head around this reality with that in mind
GLENEAGLES, Scotland (AP) - Vowing not to be sidetracked by the deadly London bombings, world leaders unveiled a $50 billion package Friday to help lift Africa from poverty
Now you want to hear from an expert that to me is very rational on this point look over here with much love to the Vodkapundit
SPIEGEL: Mr. Shikwati, the G8 summit at Gleneagles is about to beef up the development aid for Africa...
Shikwati: ... for God's sake, please just stop.
SPIEGEL: Stop? The industrialized nations of the West want to eliminate hunger and poverty.
Shikwati: Such intentions have been damaging our continent for the past 40 years. If the industrial nations really want to help the Africans, they should finally terminate this awful aid. The countries that have collected the most development aid are also the ones that are in the worst shape. Despite the billions that have poured in to Africa, the continent remains poor.
These words come from a Major economist in Kenya. Heck even African nations bristle at some of the strings which require them to buy stuff from the people who gave them the money. It does allot of damage to their own economies.
So Instead of encouraging and leading them to reforms we just throw more cash down the rathole
