"These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims," State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said in answer to a question. "We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable."
"We call for tolerance and respect for all communities for their religious beliefs and practices," he added
Are these images offensive to muslims yes but the shoe doesn't get treated the same on the other foot by government which -is- wrong.
how about this
Or this
how about this
or this one
how about this one
and here is another
You see here is the problem. These offensive images are never spoken out against by governments in any real way. It sets up a moral relativity which shows a lack of any moral foundation
The Government should have said these things are all offensive but which one clearly is designed to call out to violence, and which is critical of violence
