In religion class

My religion teacher (the actual teacher) said another weird thing in teaching Hindu reincarnation today

“The Body is Slow. The Spirit is fast.”

To which I saw WTF?

How can the body which is finite, and which if you are lucky you get a bit above 70 years out of it… be slower then the soul which is eternal?

When addressed with the concept of Karma in the cycle of reincarnation it is very clear that the body moves fast, to fast to resolve the debts of Karma but the soul is eternal and can in the slowness and fullness of time resolve those difficulties.

And if I bought into the Hindu system of incarnation I might be dissuaded by that.

Other interesting things was hearing a pro-death penalty Buddhist ethic.
